Dr Hijab Mehta
After doing an MBBS from KEM Hospital, Mumbai, Hijab completed an MS in Ophthalmology in 2000 from Nair Hospital and topped Mumbai University's MS examination. Among aspirants from all over India, she was selected for a long-term Fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment at the prestigious and world-class LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. After completing the fellowship, Hijab continued working there as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Cornea and Refractive Surgery for a year. She was the Consultant and Head of Anterior Segment Department at Dr S. Natrajan’s Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital for three years from 2003 to 2006. She is also a proficient phacoemulsification/cataract surgeon, with experience in femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery. In addition, Hijab is an accomplished Lasik surgeon, trained in bladeless/femtosecond Lasik and SMILE (a bladeless and flapless way to get rid of glasses). She has performed live surgeries through CME. She has also done several presentations at national and international conferences and published articles in peer reviewed publications. In 2006, along with her ophthalmologist husband who is a Retina Surgeon from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, Hijab started a comprehensive eye care centre called Infiniti Eye Hospital at Tardeo, Mumbai. Presently, she is the Head of the Anterior Segment Department there.
